May 2007 Designated As Paso Robles Wine Month By
County and City Officials
Wine Retailers and Merchants Plan Promotions Centered Around Paso Robles Wines

(Paso Robles, Calif., May 8, 2007) - Today the County of San Luis Obispo's Board of Supervisors proclaimed the month of May 2007 as Paso Robles Wine Month. This announcement comes in recognition of the 25th Annual Paso Robles Wine Festival to happen on Saturday, May 19 and the 15th Annual Hospice du Rhone event which concluded on Sunday, May 6.

"I congratulate north county San Luis Obispo and the Paso Robles wine industry for reaching such a tremendous milestone (25th Annual Paso Robles Wine Festival)," states Supervisor Harry Ovitt, 5th District. "The wine industry and its impact on agriculture have provided a great benefit to the economic return of the County for over 25 years."

The County proclamation also compliments the April 17 resolution passed by the Paso Robles City Council where Mayor Frank Mecham. proclaimed the month of May as Paso Robles Wine Month. The proclamation invites the community in to commending the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit of the Paso Robles wine industry and celebrate the 25th Annual Paso Robles Wine Festival.

"I have seen the Paso Robles wine industry blossom first hand over the last 25 years," notes Paso Robles Mayor Frank Mecham. "To think that the event began when Paso Robles totaled 17 wineries and today there are over 170 that contribute to a cumulative economic impact of $1.8 billion in the County. That is something to be proud of and celebrated in this Paso Robles Wine Month!"
